A cold winters day (C&C welcomed)

December has been filled with lots of very gray days; yesterday was no exception. Since I have missed shooting, decided to head out anyways to see what might be found. We came across some water which gave me an opportunity to play with my shutter speed and see how the "hand holding" would go. This was my favorite from the short excursion. I'm not a fan of super milky water, but liked this mix.

A lot of glare around Kim, may be reducing highlights a bit would give a better look Didn't you use a polariser to eliminate the glare on the water and on the wet surfaces?

I am a sucker for autumn colours and running water but like the others feel there are too many elements competing for our attention. It may have worked better if the small branch laying in the foreground was not there.

It is often a problem with bush, forest or stream scenes to simplify them enough to achieve an uncluttered composition.

I certainly like the setting and can understand why you took the opportunity to "play".

The highlights were reduced to get the water back, so that's as good as it will get. No polarizer - since I don't shoot landscapes all that often, haven't invested in one yet. Thanks for commenting Binnur.

Me too Paul - that's what got me on this one.

I did take the twig out based on your suggestion (thank you), but it didn't work for me, as the stick is what is holding all the leaves there... so to me it looked a bit "off".

Yes, I love the forest, streams and swamps, but my compositions tend to be cluttered. I need to work on that! Thank you for your comment.
