    Infinity Variations

Took a drive out with a mate at teatime to grab a few shots of the Infinity Bridge at Stockton-on-Tees as the sun went down and the lights came on. All from the same spot - I do have others - but thought I'd share a few variations as I fiddled with lenses, crops and techniques...

The second one appeals to me the most but I like them all.

I like certain aspects of each one. I like the foreground in #1, the illumination of the bridge in #2, the reflection of the bridge in #3 and everything in #4.

That's quite an effective demonstration about how the same subject can be so attractive in so many ways if we put our mind, creativity and skills to the task. Well done!

I'll add this. Each one stands out for the reasons I listed. But even if I was competent with post processing I wouldn't blend them.

That's a nice series, Robin. I didn't know of this bridge, and I started viewing your photos by looking at the first one in the lightbox. My first thought was "OK, but it's only half-way to infinity"; then I saw the second one and thought "Better, three-quarters there"; then number 3 appeared and I was finally satisfied. Nice one! Then photo four appeared and I thought "Wow! Infinity multiplied!"

You have achieved what mathematicians thought was impossible.

    Thanks for the comments.

I had a fun hour or so and we were lucky the colours played ball as the 45 minute drive was a spur of the moment thing. The bridge really is stunning and I like it when local councils spend a bit of our taxes on something that is more than just a functional structure.

The second one is on the money but the last one is the most interesting. In camera or PP?

It takes just as much time, money, and effort to design something that is functional and ugly as it does one that is beautiful.
Nice shots, I like number two myself, but they're all good. Thanks for sharing them.

I'll vote for that. Other European countries seem to do so much better.

    Good old fashioned camera work
Its a 30(ish) second exposure where I started at the widest end of my lens and slowly zoomed it pausing every few seconds to get the stepping.

Interesting set of a great subject. I like the second one best for the lighting and composition.

Really enjoyed looking at these, Robin. At this stage I prefer 1 &2, however it could well be that I am too conservative. Hopefully, in this very busy era, I will come back and look at all four again. Then I may change my preferences. In the meantime, hearty congratulations on these results and for sharing !

Also, must comment on the title ............ it attracted me and made me plunge in to see what is there. A good and apt title is a great attraction.
