The Coffee Museum - Santos - Sao Paulo

Dear fellows, long time no see...
Many changes and a hurry period. After trying hard, I got my job transferred from Macaé (RJ) to Santos (SP). I am very happy for that. Now that (almost) everything is arranged, I will try to get back to this wonderful community. My first thread here in Santos will show you one interesting spot: the coffee museum. This was built from 1920-1922, when it received the Coffee Stocks exchange. The coffee, after the decline of gold production, in the second half of the 18th century, played a major role in Brazil's economy (Brazil is still the world's largest coffee producer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...fee_production). The brazilian production of coffee was exported through the port of Santos, which is Latin America's largest port. The building served as the coffee stock exchange until the end of the 70's. Since 1998 it holds the Coffee Museum. Well, here are some images from my visit. C&C welcomed and I wish a very happy new year to all CIC members!

Note: I am reposting this thread after a problem that occurred with it and was reported to me by the moderators. That's why the first replies are not shown anymore.

    Hi Otavio,

My apologies, I may have accidentally deleted what I thought was a duplicate of this thread (it had no images and no replies), but now the 'other' thread, which had images and a reply from John, seems to have disappeared. So I am confused.

As John said (before I apparently deleted it), "good to see you posting again".

This is an interesting series, well shot, as we're used to from your good self.

    Dave

A perfect thread, as I sip my morning cuppa joe on a cold Minnesota morn. Happy to hear from you and am glad you have begun to resettle.

Everything is working well with these images and it looks as though you had to deal with some difficult lighting.

Nice to see you posting again, Otavio. Hope life slows down enough for you to enjoy shooting again.

Interesting set of images and story to go along with them. I used to work with a Brazilian lady whose family sent her coffee several times each year. She used a very fine Turkish grind when brewing it. Best coffee I ever drank.

Hello, Randy. Thanks for passing by. I am also having my cup here. The difference is it is hot like hell here in this part of the world. Yesterday we had a sunny day, with maximum temperature of 38 Celsius (100 Fahrenheit)!

    Kindest regards,

Indeed, Geoff. The place is a bit "dark". Besides that, many surfaces are polished and produce strong reflections. By the way (and maybe that is one of the reasons) this place is usually visited by groups of photography students, where they have practical classes. I think it works well for that.

    Cheers,

Hi, Dan. Thank you for your feedback. I will surely enjoy my new area (Santos and its lowlands) for shooting.

    Kindest regards,
