    Scottish Country Dancer

Yesterday my wife and I visited the Waipu Highland Games, to the north of Auckland. I took many shots and this was one which I like for its simplicity and clarity. Taken at 100mms; 1/2000sec; ISO500; f5.6. Comments and suggestions welcome. I do know that I need to tone down the couple of highlights !

Well done. I was there too so we probably have lots of similar shots, not that I took any as simple and as effective as this. Donald was there a few years ago so I will put some of mine up as well just to jog his memory.

Jim, I like her legs and feet as well as the dancing floor. I am not too keen on the background because to me, it conflicts with the dancer. Especially the guy with the white hat...

I'd suggest a subtle vignette, plus, as you mention, some other burning.

I'd also blur the bright bokeh area that has become sharpened just off the lower (our) left of the skirt/dress/kilt.

The composition doesn't quite feel right to me (the red tag is too central); how about cropping half that guy on left?
i.e. losing < 10% image width from left hand edge, this also loses some of the corner bright area.

I did a very rough job on this image but, wanted to give the idea of what the subject looks like without the background...

Of course, if this were my image and I really like it, I would have spent a lot more time in the PP...
