With the full size scene of #1 you could get away with having those branches coming from the top. Like that, there is enough to make a feature; it is when there is just one branch that it looks a bit odd.

Your edit of #3 is exactly what I was thinking.

The full size version of the last image looks much better to me. Only a fraction more space around it but that makes such a difference.

Great set of images Gary. I particularly liked #3a now that the coloushows up more clearly.

Thanks very much Joe for viewing and commenting.
They would be even more colourful with a power wash.

On to my third week of the first quarter.
With #1 I was drawn to the size of the billboard, on the platform in Perth station.
I knew getting the WB was going to be difficult (for me) and hoped I could do something with it in PS.
#1a is as shot and #1 is with PP.

The lights in the canopy were a bit of a problem. I did some burning in PS on them.

3 View from railway bridge. f6.3. 1/400sec ISO 100 FL 80mm. Hand held.

The lesson I learned with this image, is I can not just turn up at a location and everything will fall into place, I need to prepare and plan properly .
What I wanted in the image, was a train crossing the Tay bridge with it's reflection in the river
To manage this I am going to get train times for when they cross the bridge and time when it is high tide on the River Tay, to aid in getting a good reflection, this is further complicated as the light will only be hitting the bridge between 10PM and 11PM and I will need a sunny day.
I am very restricted for space for this shot.
But it is my intention to get that shot for this project.

Hi Gary, I like the series but #4 wins with me. I like the way you've captured the railroad bridge with the water rushing under it. The blues are beautiful. Your idea about having the train reflected is ambitious but hopefully, you have it all set up when the chance comes!

Gary, I enjoyed looking at each of the photos. #2 is a good black and white rendition. I eventually realized there is a flash of colour around a single light. Was it on an engine? I can't decide whether that colour adds to the effect of the photo or not. Perhaps the fact that I'm thinking about it speaks for itself!

I agree with Sandy's comment about the colour of the water in #4 and look forward to seeing the future version of this photo. Hopefully the train schedule will fit the solar schedule for light on the bridge!

Good compositions, well focused and exposed under potentially tricky conditions.

But, you say the light is only suitable on the bridge between 10 and 11 PM ? Well, I would suggest taking a torch with you because there won't be much sun at those times.

I'm partial to #2. A lone person on the platform would have been great.

The Stone Roses take me back to my college days. Great band!

Thanks Bruce for your positive comments, it is appreciated.
The red light at the end of the platform is a stop/go signal light to control the train.

I agree with both your statements.
I did ask one of the staff if they would pose in the picture but to no avail.
Went see them in 1995 at Reading festival.

Nice series! My fave is #3. Best of luck on #4. Many challenges to overcome. I am interested to see how the reflection of the train will look in all that turbalance of the water?
