Re: Its Over !
Well, at my neck of the woods down in NZ we don't get to see robins, so your image is refreshing and much appreciated both for the content and the skill with which it was captured!

Re: Its Over !
Cheers Maurice, yeah, my hands are up, I like to see them all the time as well, especially on the allotment when digging, they are bold !
Thanks Mark, the perch is a old dead tree root on a fallen tree
Thank you Trev, much appreciated. Glad you like it.

Re: Its Over !
Beautiful little bird and well captured, Mark. Interesting that what are called robins in the UK, USA, and NZ are all completely different critters.
From an artistic perspective IMO a bit more space in front of the bird is preferable. From technical standpoint there are some halo type anomalies that show up under the bird's belly and around the tip of the tail. But may just be lighting.

Re: Its Over !
Indeed Dan,
Historic I asume - looks 'similar' to the robin from home when the 'immigrants' got to the new world, only later the true specie family was identified. May well have been a choice to help with settling in to a new home as well.
The lighting was harsh behind the bird through leaves and the bird was in shadow, shooting open at f5.6 allowed me to throw the background out but had to do some exposure comp on the overall scene then try to balance the contrast a bit betwen the bird and the background - not perfect but 'okay' the anomalies are there but controlled to a degree so sort of okay

Re: Its Over !
This an excellent shot of a Robin. Not many people know that our Robins in winter are migrants from further north, the local Robins will have moved south. They are the only garden birds that hold territories in winter.

Re: Its Over !
Cheers John, appreciated.
Yep, thanks John, they were certainly territorial today was fun whatching them - even the Dunnocks got chased around Interesting also that their behaviour and interation with us is only typical in this country. Probably around UK is pretty much as far north as they go and they have a greater dependancy on us as food is more scarce especially around this time. Also they are one of very few birds that will fight for territory and breeding to the death. Most birds simply fight to outperform the other and the loser flies away - Robins dont give in if one wont back down

Re: Its Over !
Beautiful shot Mark. It might be better if a bit of the noise in the background pattern was reduced...but that is just a nit. Well done.

Re: Its Over !
Thanks Samn, yep, its actually a mistake on my part in my process workstream - at iso 400 it was okay but I should have adressed that earlier in the processing as it can acentuates it later - as in this case !
