    Surprise Visitors Today

Gannets! I don't remember ever seeing them around here when I was a lad. But in all fairness during winters I spent all of my time in the woods rather than on the sea. And summers when I was on the water they would have been up north nesting. Anyway, here I am 8500 mi(14,000km) from where I recently photographed gannets in Muriwai, NZ, and I run into their cousins.

It was a bit dark, drizzling, and foggy so the photos aren't the best quality. More documentary I suppose. But the de-haze tool did work wonders on them.

    1) Yep, those are gannets.

    2) A porpoise snuck into my BG unnoticed until PP.

    3) And a few pelicans wandered by.

    Re: Surprise Visitors Today

Thanks, guys. The first two are just snapshots proving (to myself) that we did in fact have gannets around. There are plenty of pelicans so I should eventually be able to produce a few better shots than these two. Less fog and more light would be nice

But I've set a goal for myself to shoot every day while we're here (45 days). So sooner or later conditions are bound to cooperate.

Great set of photos. I, too, particularly like the ones of the pelicans.

    Re: Surprise Visitors Today

Thanks for the additional comments, folks. There is no shortage of pelicans around here. When we get some decent light I should be able to get some really good images of them. Today I managed some shots of them diving though in poor light therefore high ISO.
