My Haunted Journey - long post
Hello and Happy New Year to all
I haven't posted for sometime but I have kept up with the wonderful pictures posted on this website. Last year has taken me on a different journey with my photography allowing me to indulge my love of history and also to use my photography as a fun illustration of ghost stories. The following pictures have been heavily processed to try to "creep" them up so to speak. I'm too much of a chicken to try and photograph these places at night so I'm trying to make them appear dark and a little scary. I wanted to share some here, if anyone has tips on trying to make a picture look like it was taken at night (I use Lightroom 6, photoshop elements 9, and I have all the NIK plug-ins). Angles for taking pictures of buildings or structures is something else I am struggling with. I will keep the stories short please enjoy them for what they are intended.
1. Screaming Tunnel, Niagara, Ontario - This tunnel was used for drainage under the Grand Trunk railway. Residents also used it as a way to safely pass under the rails. There are different variations to this story but the end is the same. A young girl runs from her home one night to get away from her abusive father, uses the dark of the tunnel to hide. She hears him enter the tunnel, feels him pouring gasoline on her and then he lights a match. It is said that if you light a wooden match in the tunnel at night you will hear screaming and a wind will blow down the tunnel extinguishing the flame. Please excuse the rather rude graffiti, I noticed it after processing and it is now part of the tunnel.
2. Harding Waterfront Estate and Gold Medal Farm, Mississauga - These properties are tied together as what is two separate properties now were one when they were the original land grant given to Henry Gable in 1807. There is said to be a lot of paranormal activity and each house contains 4 to 5 ghosts. Both properties were abandoned for many years the mansion is now rented out by the City of Mississauga for Weddings and Corporate events, the farmhouse is still empty though is deemed historical. It would take way too long to tell the stories attached to these places they are contained in a book by a paranormal investigator Richard Palmisano called Ghosts an investigation into a True Canadian Haunting. The picture of the mansion I didn't do much to it really is a beautiful place.
3. Rocks at the Lighthouse in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia - I am still investigating the stories on this one but it is said that the spirit of a women is often seen on the rocks at the Lighthouse. I was fortunate to have a small vacation in Nova Scotia recently and we visited Peggy's Cove. This picture is of the rocks.
I hope you have enjoyed the watered down version of the stories. Any tips about processing or taking pictures of these types of places would definitely be appreciated.
Thanks
Diane

Nice stuff. You can play with WB and flash, separately and together to change the temperature and mood of a composition.
