Is your auto focus set to use the centre point or does the camera have the discretion to choose whatever focus point it wants?
Although I usually use manual for all settings, I've recently become a convert to using auto ISO in some situations. This allows you to fix the shutter speed as well as the aperture so that the camera has no opportunities to mess around with these often critical settings. .
Thanks for your comments Bruce and especially for looking into the blurred photos. To confirm, I have my auto focus set at center point: I have made that mistake in the past so I am sensitive to it. I have never used Auto ISO. I must try it sometime. Thanks again for helping me to trouble-shoot this problem.

Your swan shots are just superb; i would request you to avoid #4 in the swan set, because it looks much blurred. Cheers :)

Thanks Nandakumar. It is quite blurred. However I deliberately included it to solicit comments about the possible reasons for the blurring. It happened to about 12 of my shots that day.

Heavy mist in LaSalle Park

Same scene just landscape view for comparison. I could not decide which to post, so both....
ISO 800, 55mm,f 6.2, 1/200"

Perhaps I should have processed this as mono, as I could not get rid of the blue cast.

Re: 2017 Project 52, First Quarter by Joe/ Joebranko
My favourites are the first and third. The first image does a good job of capturing the feel of the misty scene. I don't mind the slight blue cast in the third image. My sense it is probably part of the original scene?

Love the texture, depth and mood of the first shot, Joe. My first thought was that it needed something more, but now I am thinking it stands pretty well on its own. Nice job.

I favor #3 over #1 only because I like wildlife and water! #1 and #2 do give me a sense of anticipation though. I'm waiting for someone to pop out of the distant fog and come along the path toward the bridge!
So what do my deductions tell me? I like all three! :)

Thanks Bruce. In #3 the blue cast may have been the resultst of my PP work. I spent an hour messing with it trying to get rid of it and GA e up in frustration. I decided it wasn't too bad after all 🤔.

Re: 2017 Project 52, First Quarter by Joe/ Joebranko
To be honest, Joe, I'm not keen on any of these.
#1 has the 'foreground' at the top of the scene which makes the image seem top heavy and the right side branches are soft. With a crop to remove those top branches, perhaps a square crop, I like composition
The second has better foreground but the start of the bridge is to close to the frame edge. More like #1 in this respect would work fine for me.
The last one just doesn't do it at all for me. The foreground is out of focus and the duck is facing the wrong way.
Foggy scenes are very tricky to get looking perfect so I always shoot many different angles and with various other tweaks because I know that I am going to instantly discard 90% of them.

#1 looks very nice Joe :)
