The B&W especially in your second shot looks great and enhances the shot so well. I like that you're not even sure if there is an ocean out there - gives it mystery.
Thank you so much for your kind comments Sandy. I'm glad it brings back some great memories!
Hi Binnur, thanks for the comments. The storm cleared out just in time for a nice sunset.
Week 12
I haven't had the time to get out and shoot anything interesting so I'll have to make due with some PP of an old photo for this week. I was taking a 2nd look through some photos from a weekend in New York last summer to see if there were any interesting ones I missed on my initial review, specifically to see if I could come up with some urban images that worked with a desaturated look (based on some work I had seen online). I was playing around with the photo below, then decided to leave the color in the painting in the center and desaturate the rest. It's definitely not a realistic look, but I thought the painting of the forest in color made for interesting contrast with the heavily desaturated urban landscape in the rest of the picture. It feels a bit too contrived, but at the same time I kind of like it. I'd love to hear comments from others on this forum.
Initially I was rather doubtful about this image but then I viewed with the Lightbox setting and yes it does work. You haven't gone too far with the desaturation so it looks like a typical dull day shot.
Nice composition and processing.
I like it too. Seems to send a before and after message; the before in this case being the colourful forest, the after, the concrete jungle.
