So sorry, I wrote your name wrongly Janis Now, it is corrected. I was reading the previous comments and I saw Judith's name just a few comments before. Then I wrote her name instead of yours while writing my comment. I shoul have been more careful

No worries, Binnur.
Am lying here sleepless on my couch at 3:30 am, my sister (sleeping, I hope) on the other. Came home from a particularly stimulating camera club meeting tonight to find my house a shambles, laptop and hard drive gone, 27 inch Cinema Display lying smashed on the floor; possibly some jewelry gone, haven't assessed all the damages due to need to preserve potential for lifting fingerprints when the police finally find their way here.
On the good side, thieves passsed up the DSLR and all my favoured lenses sitting in plain sight, but took the film camera and the disfavoured lens. Passed on the new Wacom tablet, and all the flash equipment. On the bad side, I have probably lost the better part of my Aperture librairies. Possibly as much as 20 years' worth of digital photos, gone, depending on how much I can recover from the old Mac. Let that be a lesson to you all: back up, back up, back up.
This is shocking and painful ...hope crime stoppers would be able to chase the culprits and get your possessions back to you sooner..
So sorry to hear what happened Janis But fortunatelly they didn't come when you were at home and you didn't get harmed by them.
Thanks, Nandy and Binnur. It turned out that they didn't take the external drive after all; it was just buried under the contents of the emptied drawers. The other losses are bearable; that one would have hurt real bad.

I'm really sorry to hear that you were robbed. I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel. I hope that this is resolved in your favor and that the criminals land behind bars!
Always back up important stuff and then put those backed up items in another area to remain safe - hopefully!
Take care and try to get some sleep!
Sorry to hear about the theft of your camera equipment. Happy you did not loose your hard drive! It must be very traumatizing having someone uninvited enter your home! Happy you are OK.
So sorry to hear this Janis - I've been following your thread and...thank God you're safe and you have your photos!
FWIW, I use a cloud backup service just in case -
Just love the hut images!
Week 8
Thanks, Andrew. And thanks for the expressions of sympathy, Sandy, Joe and Joe. I have been burglarized three times in my life, but this was by far the most traumatic, as the robbers had been in every room on every floor (basement included) and had turned everything inside out. I grabbed a few shots with the Sony for police/insurance purposes; was too much in shock to think of making art at the time, but in retrospect, it was a bit of a wasted opportunity.
I deliberately gave this a bit of gritty treatment in Snapseed:
Scene of the Crime
I hope the police can get to the bottom of the theft. Your picture clearly shows the horror of the invasion and the destruction the burglars created! Yes, it is art and shows the violence silently now but it had to be noisy while it was happening.
Your picture is well done.
Janis, just my two cents worth. Sorry that you had to encounter this. We have been robbed once. I think the worst part is the invasion of your space. Keep your chin up. There are, thankfully, more good people in this world than bad ones.
Cheers Ole
Thanks, Sandy and Ole; I am feeling much better but it will take awhile to fully shake off the paranoia. And I am eager to replace my electronics. I was eager to post a contribution or two to this thread last week, but while downloading to the iPad, I did the one thing I have managed not to do since I took up DSLR photography and deleted the entire contents of my SD card.
Stuff happens sometimes Janis, especially when we are distracted, as you must be after the experience of a house invasion. Do not despair. Getting back to photography might be just the right medecine for you. Just be careful with that SD card!🤔
Excellent!
