Are the trees(bushes?) against a fence or a building? I can't decide if the vertical lines should be straightened a bit or even if they can be? Seems like if you "fix" it in one direction, then there would be others out of line so perhaps as you have, leave it as is. But I really like the snow on the branches and the red coloring peeping out and the way the pic colors blend! Good pic!

I agree with Sandy, particularly his (her?) comment about the snow on the branches.
Is the shrub/tree a red osier dogwood?

I agree there is a lean to the original posting. I tried to straighten it to no avail. But then I remembered the perspective warp tool which, I think, has solved the problem. Thanks, Bruce, John and Sandy, for your comments!

I think it is red osier (red twig) dogwood. We have a lot of that around here.

Here's a potentially interesting conundrum (if it's one at all!) - in your original the horizontal lines were very close if not perfectly horizontal. In your updated version there seems to be the slightest of gradients with the horizontal lines becoming higher as you move to the right of the image. I guess it really comes down to what you want to portray

I think the answer here is either 1) be at a perfect 90 degree angle to the wall when the picture is captured--assuming the lines on the wall are actually geometrically correct, or 2) take a little more time with the perspective warp tool. I agree there is still a slight angle in the horizontal lines. Thanks for commenting!

Hi Judith,

Unfortunately you provided too much detail on the location, conditions of the day to make the photograph more intriguing. Of course you could have done the same with a title, such as "Waiting for a Train on a Dreary Day" and we would have been satisfied with any inquiry we might have had, however you could have misled us with your title or inferred a particular situation based on your own bias but I doubt that you would. And this is what limits this particular composition for me, mystery solved perhaps, I know where the woman is, what she is doing, and the only question left is where is she going; but that information (where she is going) isn't that important. If it were me I would limit providing details of environment, let the viewer become engaged with the image and search for details within.

Wow - this is really interesting to me! I never thought about the issue of too much information in the title of a photo. I'll start paying attention to that -

I agree with everyone else, this is an attractive image. Is this a plant in your garden or a native plant? If it's native in the Seattle area it should be native up here as well.

There are some that are native to N America. I have never seen them wild, only cultivated. They do grow well in Seattle.
