    From the CBC - Capturing a rare phenomenon

    This CBC article shows the capture of columns of light created by super cold temperatures that cause the moisture in the air to freeze, refracting light from other sources. He is a brave fellow, venturing out in the middle of a cold night to get the shots. Brrrr...

    I noticed that my thread has gone to the top again but with no posts and it appeared to be listed as a 'Bump Post" - what IS that???

    As long nobody reacted, your post will be in the "last thread" list. I don't know if your second post will stop that, but mine will.

    It's a funny phenomenon those light pillars. When I understood the explanation, no traffic was possible at that time. Glace on the ground.
    I first thought it was in New Zealand, what I couldn't believe since it's summer there. But now I see it's in cold Canada.

    Ground level Aurora Borealis. I have not seen or heard of this until now.
