    Bird baths

Okay, before you all jump on me from a great height and I get trampled into the dust. Yes, technically, this is a very crappy capture, and as such an embarrassment to this August site and its esteemed company.

But hey, it was posted for its 'story' We have been having daily temps of over 35C here. And so it has been rather warm. Such that the local birds have been making full use of the outdoor 'pools" we have set up for them. And this is a family of New Holland Honey Eaters taking some respite from the heat to cool off. So what? 'Boids is just Boids,'it has been said. Well, we are led to believe that in our area they are an endangered species. So we were excited to see so many 'poolside!' in the yard.

Thanks for viewing. And yes, I don't need to be told that as a terrible shot it ranks up there with the very worst.

Don't forget sometimes images are there just as a record, and here you have achieved that

    G'Day John
In answer to your question, Two major things wrong actually. The first was to have taken the shot in the first instance and the second was then to have posted it!LOL

Apart from that, there are also the distracting red stool in the background, the bright wire fence strands and the flowers and stuff in the bottom RH corner of the frame. Also some of the birds have their heads turned or are at odd angles which makes them look like nondescript feathered blobs. The vibrance is not good either. It was a bright hot sunny mid day. However this shot looks as if it were taken on an overcast day. There were a couple of other issues as well. But if one puts all this aside I suppose it could pass muster as a fair to middling capture!
As Kaye so kindly said, it could pass as a record.
Thank you both for your comments.

Ken, there's nothing wrong with documentary photos that support/tell a story. In spite of our using the term "bird brain" in a derogatory manner, they are quite smart when it comes to knowing how to survive. Which apparently extends to understanding thermodynamics.

Images are record but also memories. A bad image have the power to recall the greatest of memories. By the way your image is beautiful, with the story, even better.
