    Nice Zeiss

I have been hounding a friend for ages to get access to his bag of lenses - so - having finally got him to relinquish his Zeiss glass I thought it only right to invited him along for a photo wander. We headed for the marina, river and coast near to the mouth of the River Wear at Sunderland where we met another friend (were all ex-Jessops so it was nice to catch-up) and enjoyed a couple of hours of sunshine, shooting, chatting and coffee stops.

I took the three Zeiss lenses below and nothing more, all manually focused, all just playing as we walked along and all just for the fun of it...

I have always had a soft spot for a T*...

The 200mm f4 is a joy to use - manual focus was helped by the Fuji's focus peaking, its good and sharp wide open and its out of focus rendering is gorgeous...

    Nice Zeiss

One from the 25mm f2.8 - the full sized fill leaps off the screen with superb colour and biting sharpness...
    Nice Zeiss

I have lusted after a Zeiss 50mm f1.4 since I first saw one 30 odd years ago and it is everything I hoped it would be...

When you stop for coffee you have to shoot your gear...
    Nice Zeiss

Not posted as superb examples of my photography more a glimpse of our morning out and an idea of what the old lenses can do.

That being the case, you should consider removing the first two photos, because both are definitely superb.

Beautiful photos. Do those Zeiss lenses fit on Fujifilm X mounts or did you use an adapter. I have the Touit with an X mount but it is probably made by Sony under a Zeiss license.

The best of gear, a photographer it does not make. Great images made by you not the gear. One must know now to use ones camara to make these and you certainly do. Thanks for sharing.

These are Contax/Yashica mount lenses with "Made in West Germany" on the 200mm and 25mm and "Made in Japan" on the 50mm which I believe originally came mounted on a Contax 167MT...which I also have. As such they need a mount adapter to fit the Fuji and to replace the space where the mirror box would have been on the original SLR's.

Most Fuji lenses are sharp and produce excellent image quality but these from Zeiss seem to have an indefinable quality about them - or is it just my imagination. I particularly like 2, 4 and 6. BTW, is the mono an in camera or in PP conversion and what is it? The door is clearly made of stone.

I have loved Zeiss glass for years and particularly T* lenses. I ran a Contax G system a while back and loved the 21/28/45/90 combo.

The mono was done in Lightroom and yes it is stone, part of a larger sculpture with a room and other fittings which is in turn part of a sculpture trail along the Sunderland riverside.
