Really beautiful.....
Great imagination and interesting, nice colours.
Lovely
I really like that the lines in the background are mostly perpendicular to the lines in the subject, which creates two complementary sets of diagonals.
Consider reducing the saturation of the background a bit so those colors don't compete as much with the nice, natural colors in the subject.
You succeeded in adjusting the background but, unfortunately, you also adjusted the subject. If you combine the subject of the first image with the background of the second image, the result in my opinion will be an image taken to the next level.
Even so, Brian, I prefer the second version over the first version because you partially accomplished the goal we discussed.
It depends on what you want. If you want to maintain the red and yellow tones in the subject in the first image, you didn't accomplish that. As a result, the overall impression is a little flat to my eye. On the other hand, if you want the softer look of those tones, the third version certainly accomplishes that.
That last version works really nicely for me, so much so that if you had presented it as the first version I would simply have written that I love it!
Even so, I notice that the subject in the last version is not the same as in the first version. If that's your intention, that's fine. If that's not your intention, you will find even greater satisfaction if you improve your masking capabilities. Making that happen might or might not require using different software.
