A couple of thoughts from me Sharon. You said in a previous post that you were just beginning to get to grips with Lightroom. One of the most useful tools to get to know is the Levels tool. I allows you to correct the exposure range in your image, in the first instance, by moving the left and right sliders to the edges of the histogram plot. Provided the it is present in the exposure, this corrects for highlights that are too bright and shadows that are too dark to show detail. The centre slider corrects mid tones. You won't always want to do this, particularly where you have say an atmospheric image in mind (e.g. your previous post) but in general, it helps.
