You should be able to use all of them in stand-alone mode - export the image that you want to edit, right click then "Open with" and select the NIK editor that you want**. I know that this works on a Mac but step ** assumes that a drop-down will open to show all the programs on your machine that could open the image file; YMMV if on a Windows machine and I don't know if there will be any issues associated with the presence of PSE, but worth a try.

Thank you Bill, I'll give this a try. It will be good if it does work because the newer version is such a big advance on the original:)
