No need to do any switching... As my previous post indicates, the same dials control the same functions.
What Canon did (for some unknown reason) is to reverse the function listing under each button...
Here is what all my DSLR cameras looked like prior to the 7DII. This one happens to be a 40D but the functions listed under the buttons are the same from the 10D to the 7D, including the full frame cameras.
Here is how the 7D2 functions are listed under the buttons. The pairs of functions are listed in a reverse order...
With all cameras prior to the &D2, the main dial (atop the camera) controls the first of the two functions and the Quick Control dial (on the back of the camera) controls the second of the two functions.
With the 7D2 the Quick Control dial controls the first of the functions while the Main Dial controls the second of the functions.
However, since the functions are reversed, the same dial controls the function on each camera or set of cameras...
