This Afternoon's Take

Went out again this afternoon to try the 200-500 plus 1.4x. The birds were fairly active for the first hour or so that I was out. And the lighting was nice.

1) Saw this guy sunlit with a dark BG so stopped for a few shots.



2) Had a couple of GBH flybyes.



3) Shot of the day. It's framed a bit tighter than I prefer. But at least no clipped wings



4) I normally don't do overhead shots but this guy just kept circling. So what the hey. It seems so odd to me seeing eagles here in the south. Odd but pretty cool

Just clipped toe nails but hey, they're sharp and need a trim

Actually I really like them all. The GBH in flight is a stand out to me as well due to its "posture" and that eye.

Glad you guys enjoyed the images and thanks for commenting. I think I'll try and add some "canvas" around no.3. Not much I can do about the toenails

I tracked that GBH as it glided a hundred meters or so across the marsh without ever flapping its wings. In lieu of a wings up position I liked this particular angle best because it reveals both the long breast feathers and the crest.

I give up. It's one thing to have the opportunity and quite another to make the most of it as you seem to do Dan. Another great set but shot of the day for me is no. 2.
