    bulk carrier

This week I stopped to make some shoots of this bulk carrier. It was loading scrap metal. Next day I passed it again and noticed it was laying much lower. I thought it would be fun to compare this situation with the first.

The whether was different. I just couldn't give the images the same look. Maybe some hints?

    1/400, f5, iso250, 10:25, 48mm

When you look at the nose, you'll see the difference is more as 6 meter.

It's fun to watch the marine traffic all over the world. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...tery:54/zoom:4 Just play with it.

    A question for the mods.
When I open a thread containing more pages, I start at the first page. It was always the last page.
When posting I get an error saying something about tags, which I didn't add. Only after removing them, I can get a preview or am able to post.

I like the exposure and color capture of the first, for the second you can see the yellow/blue on left hand side seems to pop; while the original blues/yellows on the carrier appear quite dull. Not sure if you shot at different time of the day, obviously not the same light but an overcast day should still give you vibrant primary colors.

I did put some info to the pictures and corrected the link. It where 2 different days, about the same time.
I'll have a look at the histogram in the raw images. Can't do that now.

I would just leave the images as they are, George, to nicely demonstrate how different two days can be. Maybe try boosting the highlights in the second one if you wanted to give it more zip; but beware of over exposure spots on the sky and white areas.

The second one was underexposed. I seem to have correct it in the next pictures but I didn't take this one again.
I did upload these pictures at full size so it's easier to get a feeling of the dimensions of such a ship. So when looking big size here you see 100%.

At first glance I thought those were containers on the deck in the first shot. Then I opened it up and see those are the hatch covers. Hard to imagine that ship floats if filled with scrap iron.
Thanks for sharing these. I'll have to go shoot some container ships up in Long Beach.

Did you read the link I gave? You can follow all ships all over the world.
Here is the position of that ship, going to Turkey.
