A few defenceless larvae use various tricks to make themselves appear fierce or unattractive to predators. Well spotted and photographed.

This is a variety of 'Assassin Bug'. Like spiders they inject venom into their prey. Once they suck their prey dry they use the body as armor and camouflage.
