    Sachmo Was My Hero

Playing Dixieland as part of a cruise ship Jazz Band. My sort of music. Comments always welcome.

Very nice conversion and toning, John. Dixieland has always been a favorite style of music since I was 10 years old.

Nicely done, you could just erase the reflection of his arm in his glasses.

Well done portrait. I just might reduce the brightness of his right arm a TAD, but that is nit-picking...

Great portrait. Love the reflections on the trumpet.

Beautifully executed. Charlie Parker was my hero though. Sorry. Nah! not really.

Great image John. I was trying to see if I could see you in the reflection on the trumpets bell.

Nice image, John...I like the toning you have here. Did you came back from a cruise? Did you take lots of shots? Just curious...

    Thanks all for the comments.

Dave, not likely. I was using an 18-200mm at 190mm from the back of the crowd.

Izzie, hi, where have you been? The cruise was a couple of years ago in the Med. and I always come back with too many shots (and too few keepers).

Jean and Richard. Both suggestions are on the mark. In fact Richard, it revealed a lot of detail in the sleeve. A definite improvement. see below:

(tinypic seems to have gone on strike.)

I like it a lot. For future reference, it's "Satchmo" - short for his early nickname, "satchel mouth." As a jazz trumpet player myself, I'm still in awe of him.

Thanks John. I knew that but sometimes you spell without thinking.

Hi John... Just enjoying life lately-- if I am not in the kitchen, I am out of town with Bill or playing my piano. I had learned how to take photos and videos with my smart phone too but don't know how to put those shots in my computer yet. Bought a new range for the kitchen and ended up renovating for winter, you know, things like this happens one after the other...but I am OK...didn't swear when I had my nerve tested yesterday so I guess I am getting along well without it. I wish I can share even some of my phone shots but I will find out how to move it to this pooter first.
