    Belgian Whisky

I will have the wrath of Scottish and Irish, but ..... it is very good.

Natural light, very close to a window exposed North (with sun, as usual in Brittany) hopefully buildings facing are painted in white. A white card installed on my printer (white too)

    C&C welcomed

I look forward to your image, Jean.

I will definitely have to try some the next time I get to Belgium (we have friends there so I expect it might be as early as next year). I've developed a taste for Japanese whisky, which is easily as good as the best Scotch whisky. The Japanese regularly been beating the Scots at the world whisky awards. Last year, a Canadian whisky (Crown Royal Late Harvest Rye) took top honours.

As a placeholder here is a shot of some Japanese stuff until TinyPics starts behaving itself again...

I saw it in your 500px.com account. Liked it; why can't you use a flickr account and upload there from?

Oh, OK; i suggested that just because so far i hadn't any problem regarding uploading from flickr. Several time i have found members complaining about tinypic. Not only that, sometimes we see xxx images instead of our original images

Jean - the problem is a well known issue with TinyPics. They recycle URLs and they appear to use a number of different servers around the world. Sometimes when a new image is posted, the old one may not have been purged from all of the servers, so the wrong image shows up. The problem sometimes resolves itself in a few minutes, but sometimes there may be an issue for a day or more.

I don't remember exactly; some one here uploaded a set of images where the first image i saw was a nearly nude one; i asked OP whether he had really meant to post that one in the set; then only i came to know what i was seeing was not the image he posted as the first one

Like your image, the separation from BG very well done. Wrath from the Irish, never.

When I lived in Japan (many-many years ago) the whiskey of choice was Johnny Walker Black Label...

Richard, Black label is also a good choice.

My first thought where that the French have their own Belgian jokes, like the Dutch. It really exists Belgian whiskey! Made from the same basic as their beer, or the leftover. I'm not sure how to read it. I don't like whiskey, for some reason I can't forget that hangover I had many years ago. While that wasn't my first nor my last one.

There is no bad intention when I precised it was a belgian whisky, just for me the fact (and I am conscientious of that) that it exists very good whisky somewhere else than Ireland or Scotland. Manfred quoted Japan, there is also USA, Canada even France. But I haven't experienced all these countries.

Tiny Pic still not working today

It was meant sarcastic. I just hadn't heard of whiskey outside the angel saxon territory. I always thought of whiskey as something as cognac: a registered name or origin. Now I know that this whiskey is one of the best of Europe and the Japanese one of the best of the world. I learned something.

I've 2 remarks on your photo. It looks a bit overexposed. The darks are to gray. And it looks like the top of the box is turned 180 degrees. The head of Carolus is not on his body.

You are right for the top of the box, but sorry, I checked black is blck: the light is parallel to the face of the box that why it appears gray ,

    Re: Belgian Whisky

I did try a bottle of Welsh Whisky once. I haven't repeated the purchase.

But whisky is a bit of an individual taste. I'm not overly keen on the Scottish west coast island stuff which has a taste that reminds me of the last time I fell down in a bog.

Speyside, from various distilleries, is my choice.

If it is spelt Whiskey then it isn't from Scotland. However, with modern chemical techniques if should be possible to recreate the taste of a particular water source no matter where it is produced.

Regarding this particular image. It works OK but I wonder about pushing the box back a little bit and adding a half full glass of the stuff in the foreground?

Thank you Geoff, you are right, I could arrange better the bottle and its box (with its cover in right order), I avoided to add a glass: too classic
