    K-9 Stress; decisions to make

Poor Grace. Having to decide between her two favorite things in the world. Should she lay there in the sun or get up and play ball?

I think those eyes are asking if you're really going to play ball Dan

The ball. Every time she'll take the ball.

She had actually been pestering me to go play but I was reading a book. So she cornered me in a chair and lay down so I couldn't leave without waking her.

Grace - like all dogs, fully understands who the "boss" is. She has "So please put down the book and play with me" written all over her face.

Obviously Grace does not miss the Alaskan winter all that much.

Ten more days and she's in for a shock. They've had a good bit of snow back home this year. I think she'd be content living at the beach full time. Though she's not too thrilled about getting rinsed off after every walk on the beach. She struggles with impulse control and chases birds into the surf every time we're out there. Breeding/genetics trumps training/discipline every time. Fortunately salt and sand rinse out of her short coat fairly easily.

We have a Nerf blaster gun for ours. It is fun. And no we did not buy it from Amazon. Pet Smart has them. It gives ours more exercise...

Grace's face is very expressive...she is so beautiful. Tall, long legged, pretty dog...maybe you should have an agent to put her on adverts...

It couldn't hurt. She can't get any more spoiled than she already is and it would be nice if she helped pay her own way.

years ago I used to shoot over a GSP. If he pointed a pheasant and then flushed it and I missed it he would look at me with a look of utter disgust. One of the most expressive looks you could get from a dog

When I was a kid we had one that did the same. Plus she would sit down and refuse to move until she received an adequate apology.

Dogs, like kids, tries you -- meaning tries to train you. Huey (corgi) has Bill (hubby) well trained. I haven't succumb to Roxie yet.

Surely Grace must miss you by now...how long before you come back, dad?

Grace is with us on this trip, Izzie. To minimize the stress of flying we flew as far as Houston which is a direct flight from Anchorage. Then drove the rest of the way (1100 miles) to SC. We're here a couple more days than start the trip back to Houston for the flight home. Stopping in northern Florida for a few days along the way.

Direct flights are cool! The Hub thing is not. A business trip to Calgary long ago still rankles. AA From Houston to Dallas (like, I'm going to Canada, guys). Canada Air from Dallas to OTTAWA !! Ottawa to Calgary. With nice long stops at each airport of course. Grump.
