It's a little too "crunchy" for me. You might want to back off the sharpening a bit.

Great title to your thread and nice detail and color in the photo. I probably would have cleared the ice to expose the eye of the other fish.

My goodness what memories. In my youth I fished commercially and vermillion were a high paying catch. Unfortunately they were difficult to harvest in any quantity.

Nice composition and colors. There do appear to be some sharpening artifacts that show in the full size image. Particularly evident in the ice at lower right.

Thanks all for the comments. The over sharpening problem has been commented on before. It must be something in my workflow. I normally sharpen the image as a Tiff before downsizing. Or perhaps I'm not being critical enough.

Sure, it's question of personal taste, -but this excellent picture doesn't need that bulky frame.

I like this image very much the way it is. I like the crunchy look and saturation of the fish because for me it works in this image.

Nice image with contrasty colors John I find the image a bit too crisp too. And I agree with Werner about the frame. Is it coral fish?

The crunchy look indicate the freshness of the catch. If it isn't, then you've failed in your presentation. I agree with Werner about the frame though...
