Great eye, John! Everything hangs so nicely together in this scene. One nice little touch is that the curve of the woman's beige top so nicely complements the curve of the seats. Her clothing goes so well with the color of the wall and floor and even the colors and graphic lines in her skirt so nicely complement the shirt worn by the woman displayed on the wall.

Good image - I too like seeing how others react/behave in art galleries

That is a wonderful artwork. It took great vision to 'see' that image. I love it. I think it is so very well composed.

Thank you Mike, John, Kaye and Donald. Places like Art Galleries and museums seem to provide endless opportunity - when cameras are allowed. Often in the UK, they are not.

Everything falls together great in your image. Nice capture! I didn't know what to expect when I opened this image...

I also think that the empty space of the wall works well. I would probably have cropped this a bit closer and it would not have worked anywhere nearly as well as your crop did...

Thank you Richard, thank you Sharon. Richard, I did crop closer originally but the negative space seemed to be needed to balance the comp.

John, a very well composed and captured image. I've done images in a gallery, so I know how challenging it can be.

    Nicely seen and taken John.

Knowing your purposeful approach to PP work, I'm fairly certain that the heavy toning has been done on purpose, but having been to the AGO quite a number of times, I don't remember ever seeing any walls done in those warm tones. The display areas I remember were all much more neutral than you show here. I am wondering why you took this approach?

Re: Learn More About the Artist

Nothing like local knowledge Manfred. You are absolutely right. The walls throughout the gallery are pure white. However, although the Fuji copes very well in terms of white balance for the scene as a whole, the projected image on the wall was very blue. Correcting that selectively wasn't a problem but the same wasn't true of its reflection on the RH stool and the floor where correcting for blue inevitably also had an affect on the surrounding area (see below). Not for the first time, I wished for a colour selective sponge tool in Ps. Maybe one day. There may be other techniques beyond my current level of skill to eliminate the reflected blue but the answer I arrived at was to correct for the whole image which produced the image above. There was also a side benefit. The projected image which is after all is the point of focus, is lost in a sea of white in the version below. It is given more prominence with the walls subdued and I thought, a stronger connection with the sitter. A bit of a compromise really and I'm sure the gallery would not use it in its publicity material but I didn't dislike the compromise in the end and so I posted it.

P.S. Since reading your comment, what I have tried since is to isolate the sitter in the first post version and apply a white point correction. That makes the sitter look more natural.
