Life II
I recall an image by a 'portrait' photographer Kevin Abosch favoured by the Silicon valley rich, he sold it for a lot of money - https://petapixel.com/2016/01/21/thi...-over-1000000/
So I dedcided to take it to the next level and how I think the potato would want to be photographed. Life is the drive for all living things and in this case growing so this potato is fulfilling its purpose in life. its 'II' as its a potato that was left in the ground from last years crop.

Re: Life II
Good composition and inspiration. Did the potato find its ultimate fulfillment by being eaten?

Re: Life II
Thanks Kaye, actually no, its part of a 12 images in 12 months challange I put up for a camera club I am a member of. The brief for this month is 'studio'. Not something I do normally although I have 'played' a bit with lighting so I decided I would try harder this time to get the image in my head into the camera and the Abosch image was one I thougth of to try my hand at with my natural history spin on it.

It's a winner I'm sure. Don't forget to show us the other 11 months - did I miss January ?

Re: Life II
Great one Mark, I love it IMO the BG needs darkening completely, I can see some blue parts around the sprout which are distracting.

Re: Life II
Thanks Kaye, the January was #2 of this sequence as the subject was 'Birds' - Red Kites II
Binnur, thanks, I must have missed a bit as it was supposed to be all black - on my monitor it looks okay but I do have the brighness turned way down

Great idea and execution Mark. So would this potentially be called a chip shot?

Re: Life II
Good subject you have chosen there, Mark -- did you suspend this one in mid-air or something? I like the light at the bottom to the right side that shapes it. Reminded me of my rooted potatoes underneath my wet bar. I was thinking of photographing them then changed my mind...

Thanks Izzie, it was set up on a thin steel rod from underneath that I then cloned out
