Bursting Forth - Alternative treatment.
This was my first thought for the image but I keep blowing hot and cold over it so comment might help. Designed to emphasise the "Bursting" aspect.
MOD EDIT - This thread follows on from another of the same image. The link to that other thread is here.

Re: Bursting Forth - Alternative treatment.
An interesting concept, John. Did you try it without blurring the steam? As shown IMO this treatment separates the steam from the machine. In my mind they are intimately linked. Just a thought.

Now it looks more towards the viewer; this effect works here well....

Yeah I like this too John,
Partly due to the colour.

Re: Bursting Forth - Alternative treatment.
It certainly is explosive, John, but I agree with Dan that the differing treatment of the smoke and the engine creates a bit of cognitive dissonance.

Re: Bursting Forth - Alternative treatment.
Now you just ruin this one with the coffee colour...the special effect may be applied and limited to exclude the train and the smokies around it? Maybe merge with the original one and erase the effect from the smokes perhaps? Just a thought...

Re: Bursting Forth - Alternative treatment.
Thanks all for the comments. I'm reaching the conclusion that this doesn't quite work as well as it might have.
Izzie, just for you without the coffee colour (can't do much about the smoke).

Re: Bursting Forth - Alternative treatment.
Thanks for indulging me...I kinda like the original better. Sometimes special effects make or break.
