Steam pumping station Wouda The Netherlands

In our beautiful province of Friesland The Netherlands, we have much to do with water. The Netherlands is known for its water management and that goes back hundreds of years. The Wouda pumping station is an example of genius how to control the water. 100 years ago, Mr. Wouda steam pumping station built this and is still in use. The Wouda pumping station is part of a larger work in the Netherlands to keep dry the country. Everything works very well, thanks to the knowledge and experience of all good mechanics. Everything is in original condition and as you enter it's like you've stepped into a time machine. Even the smell reminds you that it was once like then.
Also is the steam pumping station in the World Heritage list of UNESCO.

Not sure about including your shadow in the first but overall, an excellent series. I love this sort of record photography when it is well done.

    Thanks Susan.

The Wouda pumping station is so powerful, he can deterge
a pool of 50 meters long, 25 meters wide and 3 meters deep in 34 seconds.

    +1 to John's comment on image #1.

As for the interior shots, those I like very much. Preserving old technology and architecture is something that I wish would happen more often.

I really enjoy seeing old mechanical stuff that is well taken care of.
Thanks for sharing these with us.

I think all of the images of the station are excellently created and rendered. It's wonderful to see this technology kept and maintained so future generations can see how things used to work.

I LIKE the first image, the device of placing your shadow in the frame created by the structure worked for me and if it helped you get your shot of the scene, all the better!!

This is a beautiful series of photos, Arnold! You captured the light perfectly. And I am struck by how immaculate it appears in there -

Wonderful job in #1...your shadow in the frame of the environment is an excellent introduction of what lies ahead foe us to see. aLL the exposures are well taken, bright enough and very neat really. I like #3 particularly as the positioning of the triangles in your subject went very well there. (Darn! one more spelling mistake with using 8 fingers instead of 10 and I will go back to bed!) Anyway, all excellent shots. Good reportage too.
