Washing feet

We were visiting a local temple dedicated to Nandi, the bull that the Hindu god Shiva rides. As at all temples, there was a place to wash one's feet. A young girl stepped into one that I was standing beside and turned on the tap to wash her feet.



This is one of those shots I would not consider taking at home, but in the developing world, parents and children are still okay with having pictures like this taken.

Thanks Rita - to me that is what I am trying to do with all of my images; to create an emotional connection with the viewer. If I can do that, I know I have succeeded with the image, regardless of any technical or compositional imperfections that may be there.

Manfred, it is a beautifully crafted picture and knowing why the little girl is washing her feet is so important to the overall effect.

The dichotomy to this image is that the little girl is being good while wearing a shirt that declares her as naughty - and it is quite doubtful she or her parents can even read English.
