Hi Mel,
maybe crop it to remove the yellow light on the left and the rocket? on the right...
Great colours and reflections.
Pete
Are we on for the October PAD?
if we are, here is my image from yesterday, October 1, 2010 at the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, 2010 Airshow.
This was an unusual day for San Diego California because we have had a lot of moisture in the air. In fact the show stated late because of the poor visability.
During this show the aircraft are always backlit because of the layout of the field and the viewing area which causes problems shooting. Another problem is the distance between the viewing stands and the runway over which most of the fligthts take place. I would judge that to be a minimum of 100 meters; prpbably more. Friday's unusually poor visibility also caused problems. However, the moisture in the air did cause some spectacular vapor clouds as the jets raced by. Here is an F-16 enveloped in its vapor cloud. 300mm f/4L IS lens and 40D camera. ISO 400 AV exposure at around f/11...
BTW: I have loads of other shots (including various configurations of the F-18) but, have not had a chance to even look at them. I just picked this one quickly out of the batch to post on this site I even have some images of the Canadian Snowbirds Flight Demo Team who very visiting us from the North... I left before the Blue Angels event in order to beat the thousands and thousands of viewers off the Air Station and to beat the Friday afternoon traffic jam heading north from Miramar...

Mmmm, Acorn!
Aargh! I'm behind already. I didn't want to be ahead this time, but I'm a day behind. If only the earth were flat.
Canon 500D, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM (new lens!), f/4, 1/350, ISO 400, on a monopod. full EXIF, PAD slideshow.
A squirrel in the back yard that I shot with my new lens to test. It was from about 40 yards, and the image is 100%, so I'm pretty pleased.
C&C are always welcome.
Cheers,
Rick

I really like this lighting, Colin. More dramatic than I associate with your style, and good harmony in the lighting and the pensive pose/expression.
Cheers,
Rick
I think this works very well, Kay. Just, instead of "energy," perhaps say, "dynamic." To me, this gives a feeling as if she's at a window, and is walking away, but keeps her head back so she can be seen for an extra second. Like maybe she's saying goodbye to her boyfriend. So instead of just showing a subject being photographed, it gives a sense of someone captured in the middle of some motion. Very nice.
Cheers,
Rick
