Northern lights, Question about light pollution

I was out last night shooting images of the aurora. I usually hate the light pollution from my local town, however in this instance I am not sure if it is not actually a bit of a bonus to the image. The pink/red glow is from the town lights reflecting off some very low clouds that drifted in while shooting.

What do you think? Any opinions welcome.

I like the light pollution enough that I would probably increase its saturation or otherwise make it more complementary with the intense colors of the northern lights, especially in the case of the third photo.

The fact is that we don't know what the images would have looked like without the light pollution.

But if it has enhanced the images, all to the good, because they are excellent. Got to be viewed big to full appreciate them.

Nice set, I think the angle shot and/or the distortion created by the lens helps blend in any offsetting lights.

Thanks Mike I will pursue that as an option.
I was initially quite cheesed off with the clouds but I then changed my attitude after deciding they may be and asset. Funny how a mindset and prejudice can obscure potential.

Five minutes after this the clouds were horizon to horizon. Time to go in.

Lucky you Trevor! Clouds or not. I have to say I prefer the no clouds shot but it would be fun to play with the cloud colors in PP. I haven't done any night shooting all winter ;-( . I got the MW bug this past summer and have enjoyed learning how to shoot it. I hope some day to get some shots as good as these.

I prefer the shots without the clouds, but it was pleasant surprise to see the other option. Like you I am still learning. Keep plugging away. Reading the critiques and advice given on this forum is one of the most effective ways to improve. A very talented and kind core group here.
