George, for your information, as I'm not a specialist in the matter, here is the warning we found yesterday

    Zeus storm

Of course these wind speeds are reached during gusts and at the time of my shot it had to be much lower.

What a super photo Jean - it really captures the power of the sea.

The pole is a Cardinal Mark - this one has the two triangles with one pointing up and the other pointing down which means there is safe water to the east of the marker.

Thank you Richard for this precision (and your comment).
I learned this 30 years ago for my boat license, but since I did not practice, so I forgot

Amazing shot and timing. Would look great in large format on the wall. I like the first image best.

Very good exposure! I like #1 as the environment shot but I prefer #2 because it is scarier...

Jean, I prefer the first version because it has a more natural view to the wave action. How did you get this picture in the first place?

What fabulous detail and color throughout. I like taking in the whole scene on this one! I'm hearing it in my head.

You've to correct the wind speed. Probably more like 60km/h.

    George
Looking at the news reports from France, they quote wind gusts of up to 190kph!

PS I prefer the first image.

Thank you Izzie, Susan and John.

You are right John up to 190km/h, it exceeded the forecast, fortunately not where I took this picture, in addition I was protected by a wall

I was at 55 mm on my 55-200 mm zoom on my X-T1
I show you the environment here after (not too dangerous)
