Actually this was shot Saturday, but in a different session to the dragon fly post in Day 02 thread.
I was working today, so no time to take anything else, but Colin says it's okay to do this sorta thing once in a while

    Nikon D5000 + Nikon 18-200mm VR: 1/125s f/4.8 at 52mm iso200
F11 and click image to see at 1200 wide

I think I saw another shot not too dissimilar from this in Day 02 thread from Pete, who doesn't live too far from me - we obviously had the same atmospheric conditions

    Cheers,

Re: When the boat comes in

My house in the evening. Shot with infrared converted Canon D60 (not 60D). Hand-held with Tokina 12-24mm lens. AV mode at f/11.

The clouds are exciting to me. The weatherman on television has just informed us that we have a significant chance of our first significant rainfall of the season. Usually, the month of October is bone dry with winds coming from the desert in the east. These Santa Ana winds bring our serious wildfire problems. However after the first significant rainfall, the wildfire threat is greatly lessened. Since I have evacuated my home twice in the last six or so years, both times in late October; the lessened chance of fires comes as welcome news.

3 Oct Autumn in the Desert

    Day 03 - October 2010 PAD

Is this photo to flat and boring? I like the idea, but not sure this photo really works.

I like it Barb, but I can't say why

    OK I'll try ...

Although it doesn't have a subject as such, but the patches of yellow plants and the sweeping curves of the orangey red is nice.

    Hi Barb,

I like it too. I do see why you asked the question though. I always find it hard to capture the beauty of a scene like this.
I don't know if this helps, but when I look at this image, a couple things come to mind:

    1. What appears to be an old road that has the different colored flowers doesn't seem to stand out enough to carry my eye through the image. I need to work a bit too hard. Maybe some creative post processing could make this stand out more?

    2. Maybe a wider crop? I'm left wanting to see a bit more on the left. This might help with my comment above as well.

Around our house we're lucky if anything even lasts that long!
