Very nice series with wonderful clarity. I don't think I've ever seen the "hands," which are so nicely displayed in the first one.
Very nice set of pictures. I particularly like #3.
John
Nice shots, very sharp and good light. my preferred # 2 and 3
I'm used to seeing the sea otters up at Monterey Bay. These could be kissing cousins to those.
Nice shots, thanks for sharing them.
Super captures... It's a shame that a specific breed of dog (otterhound) was designed in the U.K. to kill these creatures... They would catch and eat the trout and this distressed the trout fishermen...
Very nice set John I haven't seen the hands before either.
Were these lovable creatures behind glass? Your pics are so sharp and clear! I like them all but #1 reminds me of an aristocrat. He is looking at you like he isn't sure you should be taking his pic! He ought to have a "kingly" ring on the finger of his hand!In captivity of course but very loveable in their antics. Comments welcome.
Excellent shots, John. My favorite is #3.
Richard I think you'll find it was salmon that the otters were eating. I remember being in Northumberland probably in the early sixties, when I came across a hunt that had been stopped because an otter had killed a hound. Cute they may be but they can be vicious.
Roy
yep - if cornered like all animals they will fight, and very effectivly as well. Richard, not forgetting we also imported from the Normans the Wolf hound and the Deer hound, not a lot of call for any of them in their original intent anymore happy to say
Great images John, they are captivating creatures and you have captured that in the images very well.
Thanks for commenting one and all. I would love to capture these in the wild but opportunities are few and far between and anyway, I think they see me coming.
John Otters have been seen on the Ribble and also at Brockholes, There has been some talk of the Irwell but I'm not sure about that
Roy
Thanks Roy. On here, I often refer to my local nature reserve and that is Brockholes. Have they been seen on the ponds recently (last sighting seem to have been Jan 16) ? Getting near enough would be the problem if they have. The last sightings that I heard reported was on the Lune but I was never sure whether this was a fabrication to provide an obstacle to the building of the new Lancaster By-Pass bridge.

#3 is fabulous.

Great detail in these shots. I am so taken with that first shot!
Thanks Dave. thanks Susan. The first one makes me wonder who is on show, the Otter or me.
Lovely shots; i really liked " " one (third)
