Guatemala: Tikal National Park at sunset

Tikal National Park is Guatemala's most important site of Mayan ruins. My wife and I went there from Belize and that trip of just a few hours was interesting on its own. Despite that Belize's official language is English, Guatemala provides no agents at the border crossing who speak the language. This might be to ensure that local boys and young men who do speak English and help tourists through the customs process are ensured their tips. Our car was fumigated both inside and out. The highway leading from the border crossing to Tikal is riddled with pot holes.

The Mayan site is very large, so this set of photos is only from the main plaza where we encountered the best light in our 1 1/2 days of visiting the ruins. After I go through other photos we made the next day, I'll decide whether any are worth displaying at CiC.

The second and fourth photos were captured by my wife and post-processed by me.
