Just because I've been shooting other things...

...doesn't mean that I have forgotten about my rescue dogs.

Duchess was hit by a car but, luckily came away with just a few bruises. She is perfectly healthy and has already been adopted. Her new "furever mom" is driving down from Los Angeles to pick her up on Sunday. She is an absolutely lovely girl...

Cora was surrendered by her family last night. This cute ball of fluff is a four month old puppy and was too much for a working mother in a small apartment with no yard. My wife is placing her images online as I type this and I have a firm suspicion that our phone will be ringing off the hook as soon as she gets posted. Even though Cora has been with us less than a day, she is absolutely at home here and is having a ball playing with our other young dogs and puppies...

I just realized something, my phone no longer rings and there is no longer any hook to ring off even if it did ring

Nice captures, we knew you didn't forget you just have to sometimes expand the creative juices to keep things in perspective.

Dogs always have the first priority on my time. I cancelled out on a Butterfly Exhibit shoot tomorrow in order to deliver a dog to an adopter in Orange County (the next county north of us).
However, I have been able to reschedule for a second shoot on the 29th of this month...
I am planning three shoots in mid-April: Red Bull Air Races on April 15th, and both a Chicano (Latino Heritage) and a Multi Cultural Fair both on April 22nd.
Of course, I will have an unknown number of dogs to shoot between now and then...

Your dog's portraits are really cute.

That first shot is beyond precious and they are all lovely. No doubt your phone is ringing soon. :-)

Thanks Jean and Susan... Good portraits go a long way in getting dogs adopted these days. Many potential adopters peruse the internet rescue sites such as petfinder.com and adoptapet.com for potential dogs rather than physically visiting the animal shelters...

A good portrait will attract potential furever families while they are looking through the adoption sites...

This is what a typical posting for our dogs looks like...

    Izzie,
Cora does have a sad look to her, even when shes excited and happy!
