    Belize: Caye Caulker's Color

Caye Caulker (caye is pronounced key) is a very small, poor island a little less than an hour's boat ride away from Belize City. There are no paved roads and no cars or motorcycles. Everyone gets around on foot, bicycle or golf cart, though you can't get up to full speed on a bicycle or a golf cart because of the constant pot holes. Ironically, there is a humorous sign advising everyone to go slowly, noting that though the island has two graveyards, it has no hospitals. There are only three streets traversing the length of the island and they are only a block apart. Though the length of the island can be briskly walked in about 20 minutes, the tourists' and locals' pace is very slow; that's the whole point of going there.

My wife and I decided to take a walk from our apartment on our second full day there. We planned to return in no more than 90 minutes. More than 7 hours later we finally returned, having had just an absolutely wonderful day. The color on the island really caught my attention, so several of my favorite colorful images are shown below.

I like this kind of pictures even if, in my case, I push harder cursors to "exaggerate" colors.
    # 3 needs maybe to reduce a tad highlights.

Thanks for the colorful background as well. 1 and 5 stand out for me. This is a cheap way to travel ;-) thanks.
