    A dramatic(?) cricket shot

    Sony Alpha a 58 ~ Tamron 90mm 272E ~ ISO 200 ~ F/4.5 ~ 2.5s ~ Porch light

A loud click drew my attention. It was this large brown cricket landing on our glass door.

    Dramatic indeed.

I don't know how much pressure you were under to act quickly to get this image; i.e do crickets hang around for a while after landing? If you had time, I wonder if having more of the body of the beast in the image would have made for a stronger image?

I am purely speculating. When I'm composing trees and walls they tend not to take-off, so I can spend as long as I want composing the image. I don't know how long you get to play around with composition when a cricket lands on your door.

The actual shot was 3/4 bodied. Here's how it started out.

Your crop and processing from the original work very well for me. Makes for an unusual macro perspective which is pleasing.

I like the perspective on this one Brian. And yes, dramatic.
