    Spiderplant

I shot this the same day as the cyclamen, but just processed it tonight. I am still on the iPad; claim still not settled and I am impatient to get a new computer.

What an elegant shot. It is so well balanced in the frame. Janis you have inspired me to look at my own similar shots anew using blk and wht. I could see this as a larger print...hanging on my wall. :-)

I sure do wish I was this creative. Your image is a remarkable combination of artistic sensibility and technical skill.

Thanks, Mike and Susan. I am gratified you like it as I was thinking of submitting it to my local camera club for this month's silhouette competition, but was a little afraid of how it would be received. You have given me some encouragement, so if anyone has any suggestions for improvement... I was a little shocked by how soft it got in the Tinypic version; must learn more about this re-sizing thing.

Roy, the name is meant to be humorous, as the shadow elements struck me as rather spider-like.

When submitting for contests, it's really important to know as much as possible in advance about the likes and dislikes of the people who will be making decisions about the quality of the image. If they tend to like this style of photo, they'll probably love this particular photo. If not, it probably won't do well in the contest. Note that none of that has to do with the quality of the photo itself.

Sad but true. But Janis, if you like it and think it is of merit - enter it. Until you do, you'll never know..............

Quite right, Mike and Kay. I wasn't thinking of entering to win, just to participate, which I haven't done so far. So far, this group doesn't know I'm not just a lurker. I have more conventional silhouettes, but still no access to them. Time for another call to the insurance adjuster.

Who among us would dare to spill the beans?

Thanks, Nandakumar! I love capturing those evanescent moments.

You're a wise man, Mr. Buckley, a very wise man.
