Portrait of my father

Thanks to all you wonderful people for those C&Cs. Next month I am going home and will recreate the scene with all the modifications suggested to correct the following:
1. Shiny tip of his nose
2. Lighting the shadows / separation from background
3. Color temperature of the scene
4. Posture

Will comeback with the result on this same post for your review after one month.

My apologies.

That was an assumption predicated on my (erroneous) interpretation of your name: the suffix "a" I assumed implied female . . . I think that my mind was in Italy and not in India at the time . . . sorry again, my silly mistake, a very kind way that you have brought that error to my attention, thank you.

Made an attempt to correct a few things while re-processing the image:
1. Removing the shiny tip of the nose
2. Brigning out the shadow details as much as I can
3. Color temperature of the scene, especially the bluish tint

Any improvement?

Very good PP, even if lightening is perhaps a little too hard on the book cover that appears washed out.
No more colorcast, good tint of the skin, the shirt and books and lamp.

Bedanta, Manfred has as always, given good advice covering the technicalities. All I will add is in response to your indecision namely given that it is a family portrait, the question you should ask yourself is does it covey the way that you see and know your father? Only you can answer that question but if it does, then it's a good portrait.
