    Spring in Skagit Valley

Well, it really hasn't arrived quite yet. Been a cold wet winter, and it certainly has impacted the flowers.
Normally March is Dafs, and April is Tulips. We are a good month behind last year with the March Dafs. Was supposed to be sunny today, but no go there. I don't mind muddy shoes. :-)

Here is a couple of shots of one field in light bloom. Still not fully out and many fields have nothing yet.
Still learning how to photograph these fields, figuring out best lens, etc.
Room for improvement, but good practice.
    Thanks for looking

Sharon, your daffodils look a bit more advanced than those over here. But perhaps that's because I've only been looking at gardens without full sunlight rather than open fields.

Judging from the very significant depth of field, I assume you used a small aperture and/or a wide angle lens?

Lovely daffodils! I keep telling myself that I have to get out and shoot some blooms but, can't seem to summon the energy...

Excellent images, especially the first. In the second, richness of the carpet is missing; further you could have positioned yourself a bit more to the right to make the element of symmetry felt stronger

    Thanks Bruce for your comments.
There are many fields still with no blooms, but I got lucky today, even tho still not peak.
For these I did use a somewhat wide angle (16mm / 24 with crop factor) and did stick to a small aperture. The aperture I could probably go a bit wider.. avoid diffraction.
The wind was blowing the flowers so most of what I took I trashed.

Ah, Nada you are so correct and sharp of the eye. Absolutely great point about symmetry. Always tomorrow ...or I shall wait for a clear day and go early. Sometimes the clouds are beautiful and interesting tho.

A yellow carpet like that has to make you feel lighter no matter what kind of sky. I like the perspective of that first shot, lovely.

Sharon, your daffodils are not quite as advanced as those in my front garden. I have just taken a few shots of them. I'll see if I can post one or two. Yours do make a nice show in their serried ranks. Reminds me of the daffodil fields on the Isles of Scilly.

Here's another field today, different lens (35mm/52). This one is even further behind, you can see all the yet to bloom flowers. Wonder when the tulips will make it this year? Tulip Festival could go into May

Excellent images. If you had take the 2nd one from a slightly higher elevation, I think you would have gotten a little stronger leading lines from the rows. The rows get somewhat lost behind the closest flowers before they fully fade into the distance.

All very pretty especially the last one. I like that composition too.

Thank you Arno. Very helpful idea too.... I think once the fields bloom a little bit more maybe I'll get out and experiment a little. Tulips (and traffic) are not far behind... maybe 3+ weeks out tho.

One final look with this emphasizing symmetry and rows.
