While in Las Palmas of the Gran Canarias last week, I made a few outings at dawn to capture the sunrise over this colourful suburb - Riscal de San Juan. They are probably the most photographed houses of the city, and it's easy to see why. The houses were originally painted with paint used for boats, presumably by the sea-faring tenants or owners of the houses; hence the diverse range of colours. I imagine that since then, the suburb has maintained its unique appearance by continuing the tradition of brightly painted houses.
