    Inanimate subjects

I took a few shots of places and things in Barsana and Nandagaon, India, while wandering the streets. No people in these shots:

    1. Water storage - water is brought in from local public water sources and store for later use.

    2. Door and broom - both of a rather ancient looking design

    3. Details of an outside door with the latch, lock and door handles.

    Really nice, Manfred!

Considering the effort required to get the water to the storage area, there sure is a lot of wasted water spilled onto the floor. It's interesting to me that the type of broom in the second photo is still used in modern cities that have access to other kinds of brooms. It makes me wonder if the older style broom isn't actually more effective. Great texture in that photo! The last photo is just the right amount of harsh light raking across the subject to display it in a three-dimensional style without the shadows becoming too busy and getting in the way.

Good captures... I like collections of distinctive looking doors and windows. I did collections of windows in Venice and in a New Mexico Pueblo.

I tried to do a collection of doors in San Felipe Allende in Mexico but, the local folks were quite angry at my efforts. One lady actually threw a bucket of water at me. That would have been a good picture but, I was most interested in protecting my camera/lens

That was part of the challenge in taking pictures during Holi. You knew that people would throw / smear coloured powder on you and shoot coloured water at you and at times throw buckets of water at you.

I'm a bit surprised that my camera equipment and I survived. And even more (pleasantly) surprised that I managed to pull off some shots that I'm happy with.

This style of broom and an even more common style is essentially the same design. but without the handle. These can be seen all over the country and the women (men don't seem to sweep in India) are hunched right over when the use them. The ergonomics are not good.

I suspect that with the low cost of labour in the country. these old hand-made brooms are going to be around for a very long time.

Nice! Yes, I'd be happy with those shots. I can practically feel the dry wood of that door and the shadows bring out the details even more. Love the texture in the second shot. Super.
