Helpful Posts: This is a winter view of Thiksey village, in Ladahk, India. The shot was taken from the Thiksey Monastery. Parts of the eastern Himalayas can be seen in the distance. The site is at an altitude of 3600m / 11,800ft.
The area is classified as a "cold desert", so there is very little snow on the ground. All the water in the area is fed by melt water from snowfall in the mountains.
