Had an interesting session last night at the Cairns Photographic Society on portrait photography. So, keen to try out my my new found knowledge I cast around for a suitable model. After some persuasion, Portia, was co-opted to the cause. She was none too keen at first, complaining that she had wanted to do a spot of gardening before sundown and all my mucking around with tripods, reflectors and tinkering with the innards of the camera was eating into her outdoor time. Despite a torrent of abuse the picture was eventually captured. I think I'll stick to landscapes - they can't talk back!

Just a quick idea, Pete, but have you tried cropping the previous photo into a landscape format. Possibly 5 x 4 ratio.
I think that might give the overall image more depth. You will lose the black cloud but I think that might be making the scene a little 'top heavy' anyway.
Just a thought after holding a piece of paper against my screen.
Grant,
Are your neighbours getting concerned ?
Are those real shoulders?
I like these shots, they raise a quizzical eyebrow...more than Portia can manage.
Have you heard Tim Minchin's 'Inflatable You' If not I think you might enjoy it! U tube is the place to find it....enjoy.
