New Plymouth

One image from a damp overcast morning in New Plymouth (New Zealand) which I thought I would convert to B&W. I don't very often consider a B&W conversion but I think this subject was made for it. How about you?

Very nice conversion. These are just the sort of conditions where a b+w conversion can turn what would probably be a "non-keeper" colour shot into a quite striking scene. Lovely textures.

Weathered wood is always good for a mono treatment. Nice conversion as well.

Dave you're correct about the image in colour being a non keeper. This one was the first I took that morning, more as a record really as I doubt I will ever venture out to New Zealand again. But I would return if the mode of transport could get me there in a great deal less than the thirty plus hours it took.

I'd like to visit New Zealand, but since I don't fly, it seems unlikely to happen. When I was in junior school (early 1960's) one of my teachers spent many hours showing us slides of her trip there. She went on the Southern Cross and returned on the Canberra. I wish I could do that. A lot more than 30 hours, but much more enjoyable I imagine

Thanks Izzie, I'm sorry I should have said it was a seat, I imagine you could get wet from the sea spray when sitting on it.
