Bag-shelter Moths and processionary caterpillars
The caterpillars are covered in hairs that penetrate the skin of anyone who touches them and causes long lasting intense irritation. So why they form up into "wagon train" processions and hike great distances from where they have been feeding before they pupate I really don't know. Perhaps there are predators that can cope with the hairs and by forming into a 'snake' they deter them.
Anyway, they didn't give me a very good line to the cup - I three putted from four metres!
