    Wine: Lioco Chardonnay

It's very rare that my wife and I really enjoy a medium priced Chardonnay. This is the second one recently that has so pleasantly surprised us. It's made in California's Sonoma County.

    Setup
The background and tabletop are a single sheet of semi-glossy silver presentation board. A small continuous-light lamp is high above on the left.

Nicely composed Mike. My only thought is to take down the LHS highlight very slightly but nicely done.

Well captured Mike, it came with a cork stopper too. The cork adds an extra dimension to the image.

    Thanks, Peter!

As for the cork stopper, if it's cork it's only particles of pressed cork held together by glue. I'm not even sure it's cork though it might be. Though I prefer screw caps, it's more difficult for me to come up with photos that attractively feature them.

Nicely done as usual. I like the light background and shadow - it's inviting somehow. I could grab that right off the counter.

Thank you, Susan, especially for mentioning the background and the shadow displayed on it. I chose the color of the background to complement the color of the letters on the label. I positioned the curve where the tabletop transitions to the background and the placement of the shadow on that transition to create the curved shadow. That curve complements the curves so prominently displayed in the last three letters of "Lioco." I also composed the scene so the background would be displayed only on the right side, which in turn positioned the curved shadow to be so close to those three letters. All of that perhaps allows our mind to at least indirectly or maybe subconsciously make the connection between those elements.

On a related topic, I positioned the cork so the end of it would be displayed. That was purely to enhance the three-dimensional appearance of the image. I realized only after completing the image that displaying the end of the cork forms the shape of the letter, "O," and that that shape in the cork is immediately adjacent to the letter "O" printed on the cork. That's no big deal, but it is one of the small details that I get a kick out of appreciating.

A thoughtful process that shows in the image and translates well. You have very developed light seeing eyes Mike among other things. Mine are still in training.

That's true for all of us and always shall be. It's one of the great never ending pleasures of photography.
